I am a lecturer and researcher at a university in Tokyo and wanted to carry out my fieldwork in a Miskito village in Nicaragua for a long time but did not know how… It was the Green Monkey Eco Tours that made it possible and kindly customized my trip! I spent about a week in Sandy Bay with Vianna and Roy and could finally record 14 local Miskitu village people. At the end of my trip, they arranged staying in Granada, a beautiful historic town, for me, which was just a superb experience. Needless to say, without Vianna and Roy’s help, my whole trip was impossible. The Green Monkey Eco Tours is a very experienced, professional tour organizer for not only ordinary tourists but also educators and researchers like me. Highly commended and value for money, too!

A Green Monkey Eco-Tour with Vianna and Roy was like being a guest of good friends who wanted to share places they loved and knew so well. Ometepe is clearly special to them and they have a wealth of myths and stories to share; as weii as Oyo de Agua, vines growing grenadine, museums, a delicious Nicaragua breakfast and farm tour..
I spent five days on the shore of Ometepe, to relax on the beach, read and write; but I feel so fortunate to have met Vianna and Roy, , who showed me some of the very special gifts of Ometepe.

We really enjoyed our time with Vianna and Roy on Ometepe. It was our 1st time in Nicaragua I'm from US and my wife from Lithuania. We hiked to Concepcion and to the waterfall. Having knowledgeable guides with us made the hikes all the more enjoyable. They met us at the ferry on our first day and were kind enough to give us an island tour which was the perfect way to get acquainted with the island. I've heard from people that they often feel trapped when visiting Ometepe. This was not the case with Vianna and Roy. Our days were full and after a day of hiking and sights we had just enough time for a swim and drink at the hotel before nightfall. Another great thing was meeting local people and spending some time with them at their homes or places of business. They were kind enough to bring us to a local farm for a traditional breakfast, by far the best breakfast we had in Nicaragua! Our only regret is that we did not meet up with them sooner to get ideas for the rest of our trip.

With luck... I was recommended by a hotel owner to by guided up Volcan Concepcion by Roy on January 20, 2009. Roy's knowledge of the things we saw, along with his warm personality made the hike the most enjoyably challenging activity I did in all of my travels in Central America. If I had more time I would've hired he and Vianna to guide me on several more tours of the Island.

My girlfriend, brother and I had the privilege, through blind luck, of running into Roy and Vianna who took us on a hike of the Conception Volcano on Dec 27/08. We are all avid hikers and loved the challenge the slope. There was plenty of wildlife and vegetation to see and a few white-faced monkeys greeted us as we reached the edge of the treeline. However, once we were past the treeline we also reached the clouds and high winds made it too dangerous for us to attempt to make it to the crater. Since this shortened our hike by a few hours Roy and Vianna offered to give us a small tour around parts of Ometepe. We visited a museum, a natural lagoon and watched cock-fighting birds in training!!! We loved being able to see what the island was really about. Both Roy and Vianna are truly passionate about the island, it's people and it's natural beauty. I would never hesitate to recommend them as guides to anyone!!

We did two hikes. First one was to waterfalls and second one was to lagoon lake on top of the volcano. We saw different types of forests and many butterflies and other animals, monkeys, land-crabs etc. We highly recommend those hikes, volcano hike is tough but rewarding. On culture day we saw churches, eye of the lagoon and money museum. Roy and Vienna told us something about the history of the Nicaragua and living in Nicaragua. Very relaxing and educating three days in Ometepe.

From touch-down -to- take-off, Vianita and Roy led us safely through the architecture of Granada, wonderful main-land sites, and the peaceful simple-life of Ometepe through the eyes of locals, not to mention the beautiful natural features we experienced! We'll be back!

Mark and I really did not know what to expect traveling to Nicaragua. Roy and Vianna made sure to make our experience unforgetable. They went out of their way to see that marks request to fish was met. We traveled the Pacific coast and stopped a night in Granada before heading over to Omepete. Every day was a new adventure or experience. We had a great time. The bungalow was just perfect. I would recommend them for everyone since they are very capable of making a perfect vacation for anyone -what ever YOUR dream vacation is!!!!!

We of 11 had a great time. We hiked waterfalls and tented on their farm as they fed us breakfast everyday. They toured us around in their 4 wheeled jeep to places we would never have found. A great couple who compliment each other with their individual skills and knowledge.
Highly recommend these Green Monkey Tours for people who want to customize their vacation and be kept safe while wasting no vacation time being lost.
